Truly remarkable in affirming children’s self worth by A. Foley (UK)

Customers Rating: ★★★★★

When I inherited my now nine year old daughter after her mother died, this is a book I wish we had found right away. Before we finished the first page, Kim started saying things like, “This is excellent,” and “This is my favorite book ever.” All of the concerns of this young lady were addressed and affirmed: appearance, feelings, privacy, changes and more.

Just Because I Am truly helped her understand that even with her experiences, she really is a worthwhile person. Hearing it from the perspective of a stranger (the author)and accompanied by the brightly colored illustrations of just the right complexity gave this much more weight than all the times I have expressed similar concepts in less lovely prose.

An excellent book, kids and parents will like it! by Karey

This is an excellent book, it’s not hokey and fake like many “self-esteem” books. The content is right on target, speaking exactly to kids’ interests and parents’ concerns. My first grader took it to school to read, the teacher loved it–wanted to know where I got it.

Just because it works by BigMamaBadger

We’ve been using this book for a while now and it’s got us through some sticky moments. It’s written simply enough that even quite a new reader can manage it themselves. The pictures are lovely and really add to the words. This book can really help to find out if something is bothering you child, it’s a much more user-friendly way than simply asking questions. The answer to “what’s wrong?” often results in “Nothing!”

We’ve found the best way is for my daughter to read an affirmation herself, then we discuss what the affirmation says and how it applies to her. We’ve reached the point now where she will ask me to pick one for her when she’s feeling bad about something. We both find it very comforting and I think it’s really helped her to be able to express her feelings.
